Kingdom Hearts will be making a big appearance at the upcoming D23 Disney fan event in California next month, though those holding out hope for a lengthy Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal or two should probably not hold their breath.
This revelation comes via the D23 website, which is dedicated to the official Disney fan club. In a recent post, the line-up for August’s D23 fan event was revealed, including something Kingdom Hearts related.
Kingdom Heart’s presence at the D23 fan event will not be a peek into the future, but rather a journey into the past. In what is described as a ‘deep dive’ on the website, attendees will be able to learn about the series’ history from “creative minds” and “character voices” from the games. Who exactly these will be remains unclear.
There has been growing excitement around the mysterious Kingdom Hearts 4 as of late. Passions were reignited during a recent Nintendo Direct last month, where the game’s appearance not only included new gameplay, but revealed the game would be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.
Prior to this, a few Kingdom Hearts teases here and there were all fans had to sustain themselves on in recent years. Keep in mind, it has been quite a while since the game was first revealed in 2022. While Kingdom Hearts 4’s director assured fans it was making good progress during the years-long dry spell, nothing quite soothes as well as a fresh trailer.
So while we’re not due anything contemporary at this D23 fan event, we do seem to be firmly in an era when Kingdom Hearts 4 news is trickling out at last. By the way, that Kingdom Hearts panel does still sound interesting. If you’re in California and would like to attend, tickets are still available. Who knows?
