June’s Nintendo Direct presentation was reportedly this year’s most-watched Summer Game Fest showcase.
That’s according to analytics company LevelUp, which looked at viewer figures for all the major broadcasts between 1st June and 11th June. It determined last week’s Nintendo Direct peaked at 3.8 million concurrent viewers – roughly 100,000 more than the main Summer Game Fest showcase, which reportedly saw a peak of 3.7 million viewers.
PlayStation State of Play, meanwhile, supposedly saw a peak of 2.9 million viewers, while the Xbox Games Showcase hit 2.2 million. As for Xbox’s dedicated Gears of War: E-Day stream, which followed Microsoft’s main showcase, that saw a viewer peak of 808,000.
As for specific trailers, LevelUp says the reveal trailer for Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was the most-watched. It reportedly boasts 115m views across various platforms at the time of writing, with that data covering the period between 1st June and 11th June. As if that wasn’t an impressive enough feat in itself, it’s worth noting the Ocarina of Time remake was only announced on 9th June, meaning it accrued those views in just three days.
God of War: Laufey’s announcement trailer, which received 90.5m views, takes the second spot, while Capcom’s upcoming remake of Resident Evil Veronica rounds out the top three with 70.9m views.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches for Switch 2 later this year. God of War Laufey is currently in development for PlayStation 5, but lacks a release date, and Resident Evil Veronica is due to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC next year.
