Phantom Blade Zero Estimated to Have Sold Over 1 Million Copies Before Release Date

Phantom Blade Zero is on track to be a huge hit, with estimates suggesting the action game has already sold over 1 million copies before launch.

In a post on social media, Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, estimated that Phantom Blade Zero had sold 850,000 pre-launch copies on Western launch platforms Steam and PS5, with sales on Tencent’s WeGame (an online PC storefront in China) bumping the total figure above 1 million.

Of the Western launch prelaunch sales, Elliott estimated three quarters were on Steam. Nearly two thirds of total prelaunch sales are from China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong. Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action game developed by Chinese studio S-Game, and features martial arts movie star Donnie Yen.

Elliott said that Phantom Blade Zero’s prelaunch sales had generated $43 million in revenue, and had cracked the top 40 games of 2026 by revenue before it’s even released, despite only being available on PC and PS5. He did, however, add that Phantom Blade Zero is unlikely to hit the sales heights of 2024’s megahit, Black Myth Wukong, but still, “it’ll sell a lot of copies this year in a crowded market.”

For context, Game Science’s Black Myth Wukong sold an eye-watering 10 million copies in the first three days alone, and has reportedly sold over 20 million copies to date. Unsurprisingly, a follow-up is in development.

IGN’s 9/10 Phantom Blade review called it “an unbelievably smooth action game filled with memorable boss fights, compelling combat, and limitless swagger.”

Phantom Blade Zero looks set to be one of the biggest video games of October 2026, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and Final Fantasy Resonance. 2026 is shaping up to be a special year, with the Ocarina of Time remake and GTA 6 still to come.
