Postal 2 Redux Funded, Confirmed for Q1 2027 Launch on PC, PS4, PS5, and VR

Once-controversial cult classic Postal 2 is returning, with original developer Running With Scissors, Flat2VR, Team Beef, and Impact Reality confirming Postal 2 Redux, a complete rebuild of the 2003 first-person shooter in Unity 6. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign that saw it get funded in one day, Redux will be released in Q1 2027 for PC, PS4, PS5, and VR platforms.

The fictional town of Paradise, Arizona will once again have to deal with the presence of the Postal Dude, an everyman who just wants to get his errands done and get through his day. Naturally, things go sideways, and he’ll end up getting mixed up in all sorts of shenanigans. “At its heart, “Postal 2 Redux is a sandbox in the truest sense: players decide how each day unfolds, playing their way from mild-mannered to mayhem, in a living, reactive world where no two playthroughs are ever the same, said Impact Reality CEO and co-founder Jasmine Uniza. “Returning alongside the Postal Dude is Champ, the series’ beloved canine companion and a longtime fan favorite, now upgraded with new ways to interact: pet him, bring him along, weaponize him, and more.”

Running With Scissors says that a number of technical improvements accompany the move to Unity 6, including upgraded textures, lighting, materials, and shaders. Level streaming has also gotten a boost, which should make traversing Paradise smoother. NPCs are also being overhauled for better intelligence and reaction to both the player and the world around them. Combat is also being rebalanced and a new physics system has been implemented.

IGN gave the original Postal 2 a 5.5 out of 10 in 2003. We’ll see how Postal 2 Redux plays in 2027.
