The remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 are coming to Nintendo Switch 2 next month.
Capcom is making sure fans can enjoy classic Resident Evil games on the go by porting the trilogy of remakes over to Nintendo Switch 2. The games were announced for the console durign today’s Nintendo Direct and will arrive digitally on October 16, with physical versions to follow on in January 2027.
These won’t be sold exclusively as a collection (though it wouldn’t be surprising if there is a bundle), so fans will be able to pick which ones they want to purchase and play.
Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 will come with their respective DLCs, including 4’s Separate Ways expansion that follows Ada Wong. No other unique features or upgrades were mentioned, so don’t expect any radical changes if you’ve already played these remakes elsewhere. Nevertheless, it’s a great offering for those who either want to revisit them portably or play them for the first time.
The bulk of the mainline, numbered Resident Evil games will be natively available on the platform once these release, as Capcom previously released Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem for the console. Of course, we’re still missing native versions of Resident Evil 1, 5, and 6, but all three of those games are available on Switch 1 and playable on Switch 2 through the console’s backward compatibility. As a result, fans can play the entire Resident Evil saga on Switch 2, which is nothing to scoff at.
The next Resident Evil remake will be for Code Veronica. The game — now just Resident Evil Veronica — was announced at Summer Game Fest, though details are still relatively scarce on the project. It is currently scheduled to be released next year and, yes, it will also launch for Nintendo Switch 2.
