A new trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil movie has been released, introducing the call-to-action for our protagonist’s journey into the dark and spooky world of bio terror. It also features a nice little easter egg for keen-eyed fans of the games.
The trailer, which you can watch below, shows our protagonist – medical courier Bryan – delivering much-needed organs to a hospital before venturing out with a mysterious package for Racoon City General. Along the way, he hits what appears to be a zombie while having an argument on the phone, kicking off his misadventure.
The trailer also shows him making his way into a seemingly abandoned house, in which he finds a double-barrelled shotgun to defend himself. And here’s your fun fact: the box of shotgun shells is branded Heavy Field Buckshot – the same brand of shotgun shells found in Resident Evil 4 and 5.
As we learn in the games, Racoon City General hospital was quickly overwhelmed by the rise in violent attacks before the public knew for sure zombies were the cause of the chaos. As such, I’m sure medical deliveries were put out from neighbouring regions – which is probably where Bryan comes into the story. Let’s just hope he gets in and out before the bombs are dropped.
This new live-action film set in the Resident Evil universe is being directed and written by Zach Cregger, best known for horror movies Barbarian and Weapons. John Wick writer Shay Hatten co-penning the script.
