Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy 7: Revelation Release Date

Square Enix has announced a release date for Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, concluding its acclaimed remake trilogy.

The third and final chapter in its Final Fantasy 7 remake saga will arrive on April 8, 2027, it was confirmed today. That date arrived during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast and just mentioned the title’s PS5 arrival — though we know the game will launch simultaneously for all platforms, meaning this is when you should also expect its Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions, as well as its PC launch via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Following that, two expansions will also be released over the following 12 months. Story DLC 1: Sephiroth and Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks are mentioned as part of a Story Expansion pass that’s now visible on Steam. No pricing is available yet for this pass, and no further detail on the story content of these DLCs is mentioned, though this confirms that suggested further chapters are on the way — something fans have expected since the pass previously leaked via the Epic Games Store.

All of the game’s cast — Cid, Yuffie, Red XIII, Vincent, Barret, Tifa, Cait Sith, and Cloud — made an appearance, with further battle customization detailed. Sidequests will also now play out different depending who you’re controlling and, somewhat weirdly, you can skip through dialogue at double speed, making characters sound a bit like chipmunks.

You’ll even be able to leap down from the Highwind into the new region of Wutai, parachuting down to ground level like in Fortnite. Once there — and best of all — you’ll be able to wile away hours photographing its cats. Speaking of, Red XIII is now the focus of Revelation’s compulsive Queen’s Blood card game, if you’re into that.

Today’s announcement comes as part of the latest showcase from PlayStation. Catch up on everything announced during Sony’s State of Play September 2026 broadcast right here.
