Stellar mystery adventure Paranormasight is back with a sequel and it’s coming to Switch 2 soon

It’s a good day for those those interests lie at the intersection of ‘spooky’ and ‘deduction’ – Square Enix‘s acclaimed visual novel Paranormasight is officially getting a sequel and it’s coming to Switch 2 later this month, on 19th February.

The original Paranormasight, subtitled The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, launched back in 2023, offering an engaging, intriguing blend of spooks and investigatory adventure, all tied to a story of dark rituals and murder in Tokyo, Japan. “Paranormasight is a delight,” reckoned Eurogamer contributor Christian Donlan in his review. “A mystery, a puzzle, and a ghost story that’s genuinely haunted by the player on the other side of the screen.”

So news of a sequel is exciting indeed, and Square Enix has now shared early details as part of Nintendo’s latest Partner Direct. Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse, as it’s known, whisks players to coastal Japan, introducing them to a young pearl diver called Yuza Minakuchi who, while diving one day, encounters another version of himself at the bottom of the ocean. But soon, other mysteries begin to plague the island’s inhabitants, and – as the adventure unfolds – you’ll talk to them, and explore the bay’s depths, to uncover the truth of the Mermaid’s Curse.

So there you go. That’s Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse, coming to Switch 2 on 19th February.
