Surprise! Nintendo launches new pop-up store in London

Surprise! Nintendo has launched a pop-up store in London.

The Nintendo Experience Zone, available now in the Argos Store on Tottenham Court Road, offers a range of goodies, from games and consoles to plushies, figures, and collectibles from right across Nintendo’s impressive IP catalogue.

According to BadxGurlCosplay, who shared the news via TikTok (thanks, VGC), the store is “fully stocked with the latest games and consoles as well as all of the accessories to go with it”.

“You’ll also find some merch that is exclusive to Argos. There’s also IPs like Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Splatoon, and Pikmin,” they added. “There’s also a huge range of Pokémon peripherals, accessories, plushies, as well as toys and board games. There is also a really nice range of stationery, homeware, and kids’ toys.”

“After seven months of planning, our Argos Nintendo Tottenham Court Road partnership is live, bringing together hundreds of lines from across our gaming and license partners,” said Argos’ gaming buyer, Peter Wray, on LinkedIn.

“What an amazing project to have landed on. Big thanks to our amazing partners – some of whom even hand-delivered stock to us!”

It’s unclear how long the store will be operating, but VGC claims it’ll be running for “the next few months”.

Last month, Nintendo announced sweeping changes to its first-party published games moving forward: digital and physical copies will now sell at different prices. After a lot of confusion and not an insignificant outrage, Nintendo clarified: “The cost of physical games is not going up.

“This means that when Nintendo sells digital versions of Nintendo-published games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 to consumers in the US, those prices will have an MSRP that is lower than their physical counterparts. Retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may vary.”
