The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival Revealed

Developer Odaclick Game Studio and publisher Trailmark Games have announced The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, a new pixelated beat ’em up starring Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne.

This single-player game set in the world of AMC’s zombie franchise was announced today with its first trailer. It’s set to come to PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, though no release date was shared.

In The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival’s first 30-second gameplay clip, it looks like Rick, Daryl, and Michonne will be the three characters players can control, with each sporting their own unique weapons, pulled directly from the main show. While Rick can be seen wielding his trusty magnum revolver, Daryl cuts through enemies with knives and a crossbow, while Michonne, of course, uses her katana.

Of the many, many The Walking Dead storylines AMC, Odaclick, and Trailmark had to pull from, they chose maybe the franchise’s most bloody conflict to retell: All Out War. This is the segment of the universe that saw Rick and his group go head-to-head with The Saviors, who are led by the iconic barbed wire baseball bat-swinging villain, Negan.

“Based on the events of the All Out War storyline, fight through a campaign that reimagines the Saviors conflict that features walkers, threats, and surprises pulled from across the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead,” an official description for The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival said. “You’ll explore familiar environments from the show – including the Sanctuary, Hilltop, Alexandria – enhanced by dynamic set pieces, environmental hazards, and intense, story-driven moments.”

You can see Rick, Daryl, and Michonne beating up both zombie and human enemies in that first trailer, with characters like Negan and Simon showing up as what are described as “multi-phase boss battles,” too. Winslow and the Well Walker are also included in its lineup of bosses. Odaclick and Trailmark told players they’ll be able to master each character’s moves through multiple difficulty settings, but for now, it seems The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival makes no mention of any multiplayer functionality.

Although no release date was shared, there is currently a demo available for Steam players to check out on PC. Trailmark added in a press release that today’s reveal is the “first of many announcements” from the new publisher. Odaclick, meanwhile, is also responsible for The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, which features a similiar style to the one revealed for TWD today.

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will come to PC and consoles at an unspecified point in the future. For more on the post-apocalyptic universe and its litany of spin-off projects, you can see why executive producer Scott Gimple believes he could see TWD still floating around in 15 years.
