Windrose, as you may have heard, has been taking Steam by storm since its swashbuckling release. A pirate-themed survival game, over a million players sailed into a new adventure soon after its release. Some of these sailors have drifted a little off course, however.
If you popped by the r/windrose subreddit recently, you may have been one of them. As seen on the subreddit, Windrose is also the name of an Italian power metal band, best known for a range of fantasy-themed albums and 2019’s Diggy Diggy Hole.
“/r/Windrose is about the metal band, not the pirate survival game” stands firm as the pinned post on the band’s community hub. Where players should be going is r/Crosswind, the original name for Kraken Express’ latest release during development.
“Well this is awkward,” writes user Typical_Ad_2513, having washed up to unfamiliar shores. Others saw this mix-up coming some time ago, like cut-the-cords who added: “When I saw the name of the game I knew this was gonna happen lol.”
Still, there’s a silver lining here. It turns out that many who have accidentally imposed upon the Windrose Reddit have found themselves so cool background music to sail around to.
“Came here looking for the game but already like the band. Diggy diggy hole!” wrote FilthyBarMat, while Ok-increase-4509 added: “Came for the game, stayed to check out the band \m/ “.
It’s a fun little mistake in the wake of a surging survival game’s rise on PC storefronts. If you do check out the game’s Reddit, you’ll find the kind of discussion you’d expect. Happiness surrounding a lack of weapon degradation, base building post, and posts at the expense of Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones.
