Every Bond film needs a title song to really set the tone, and the games are no exception. Earlier today, developer IO Interactive announced that the title song for the studio’s upcoming Bond original game, 007 First Light, will be sung by Lana Del Rey.

It’s simply called First Light, and has been written and composed by the Born to Die singer and David Arnold, marking the return of the composer to the Bond franchise. Arnold scored five James Bond films, including Die Another Day, The World Is Not Enough and Casino Royal. You can check out First Light’s title song via the lyric video below.

“It’s a joy to watch two extraordinary talents like Lana Del Rey and David Arnold combine forces, the result feels instantly ‘Bond’ while still bringing a fresh identity for 007 First Light,” said IOI’s head, Hakan Abrak. “Bond’s return to gaming is a landmark moment for us at IO Interactive, and having a title song of this quality makes it even more special.”

“The music of James Bond has always been a huge part of its identity,” Arnold added. “A title song has to tell us about the world we are about to enter into. It has to intrigue, excite, and beckon us in. This song joins a long line of genre defining songs, each one creating a benchmark of style that adds to the magnificent heritage that is ‘The Bond Song’.

“That’s why I was so excited to work with Lana, an artist who brought elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character to this piece, which I hope will open the world of Bond to a whole new audience.”

First Light (the song) is available now on streaming platforms, while the title sequence itself will be showcased via 007 First Light’s official channels tomorrow, 17th April, at 8 pm UK time.

007 First Light is set to arrive on 27th May, across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox ROG Ally X and Xbox ROG Ally. It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, however its release has been delayed until an unspecified time in the summer.

For more on IOI and Bond, Alex Donaldson recently got a closer look at 007 First Light, stating it’s “so much more than Hitman”, and thanks to “its ‘breathing’ structure”, it looks like “the ultimate composite video game”.
