Baldur’s Gate 3 Stars Set for Dungeons & Dragons Actual Play Series

Dungeons & Dragons is launching an official “actual play” show, Dungeon Masters, featuring familiar voices from the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast.

Neil Newbon, better known to Baldur’s Gate 3’s legion of fans as Astarion, will sit around the D&D table with Devora Wilde, who played Lae’zel. While they won’t be revisiting their old roles (here, at least), the duo will help introduce viewers to new D&D material due for launch over the coming months.

The pair will be joined by DesiQuest’s Jasmine Bhullar, Dispatch’s Mayanna Berrin and 13 Reasons Why’s Christian Navarro, as they play upcoming D&D additions, beginning with Ravenloft: The Horrors Within.

Dungeon Masters is the latest initative from D&D maker Wizards of the Coast that’s designed to slot into its new seasonal model. Here, the first season of the show will reflect the brand’s new Season of Horror, which features Ravenloft: The Horrors Within as its core release.

The show will further be tied into Ravenloft via the launch of digital Play-Along Packs, via D&D Beyond, with encounters that drop alongside each weekly Dungeon Masters episode for Ravenloft pre-order customers. This week’s first drop is free, however, allowing you to encounter the Zombie Clot and Swarm of Zombie Limbs without charge — weeks before Ravenloft actually arrives.

If all of that sounds like fun — or you just want to close your eyes and hear more of Newbon, Wilde and the rest of the cast and imagine it’s Baldur’s Gate 4 — Dungeon Masters’ first episode will debut online next Wednesday, April 22.

D&D will continue its releases this year with its Season of Magic, beginning in July, which will include the new Arcana Unleashed sourcebook. The Season of Champions will then begin in October — though its range of themed products is yet to be revealed. As for the adventures of Astarion and company, Wizards of the Coast owner Hasbro has suggested that another Baldur’s Gate game will follow at some point, once a studio to make it has been found. Meanwhile, a Baldur’s Gate TV series is in the works for HBO.
