Indie game bundle saving buyers over $1,000 in support of laid off developers has raised over $100,000 in three days

An indie game bundle aimed at helping laid off video game developers has raised over $100,000 in a matter of days.

This bundle, which you can find on itch.io here, was created to contribute funds to the Game Industry hardship fund. This fund, formed by the CWA video game union in July, provides financial relief to North American developers who have been caught up in the years-long deluge of layoffs.

Here’s a video made for the bundle.Watch on YouTube

The bundle contains 127 games which can be bought by interested gamers for a minimum of $10, though you can opt in to pay more if you are so inclined. The full sum of these games when bought outside of the bundle comes to $1,023, meaning those buying in are saving over a grand in value.

As of writing, 7,194 people have contributed to the fund via this indie game bundle, with the average contribution coming in at $13.96. The top contribution right now is a whopping $2,000, so kudos to whoever decided to properly bust the wallet out for a good cause.

This bundle will be available for a little more than 10 more days, so you’ll have to get a hustle on if you want to sweep up the hardship fund collection. There are some pretty great games included in the bundle, too: I’d like to personally shout out Skatebird, a radical skateboarding game I sunk a few evenings into a while back. Plus, A Short Hike is a gorgeous looking exploration game that has plenty of heart to it, much like all the developers who put their works forward as part of this bundle.
