EA CEO Earned $38 Million Thanks to Successful Battlefield 6 Launch After Studio Layoffs

EA’s CEO got an $8 million raise thanks to how well Battlefield 6 performed — four months after the devs responsible for making the game got laid off.

Battlefield 6 was the highest-selling game of 2025, beating out Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and NBA 2K26. It sold over seven million copies in just three days and was the best-selling title across both Xbox and PC at the time.

However, in March 2026 — just five months after celebrating the most successful launch in the Battlefield franchise ever — EA laid off an undetermined number of employees across all its Battlefield teams to “better align” itself around “what matters most to our community.”

Now, come July, one of EA’s SEC filings have been released, showing that CEO Andrew Wilson’s total compensation for the 2026 fiscal year added up to $38,649,984.

As pointed out by PC Gamer, this is an $8 million increase from his total compensation from the previous year, and he has Battlefield 6’s success to thank for it.

The filing credits Battlefield 6’s high sales for allowing EA to meet company objectives, saying the game had a “high-quality launch” with “positive critical reviews and stable services and gameplay, with interim milestones related to future launches being met.” It also states that the game’s “highly successful launch” helped manage the company’s resilience in an “unpredictable external environment.”

While reception to Battlefield 6 has had its ups and downs in recent months, it’s showing no signs of slowing on the content side, receiving a collaboration with Top Gun as part of Season 4. The collab, which drops in August, includes two fighter jets and skins of characters in the film, complete with full voice acting.

In June, IGN spoke with Ariel Giovannetti, Seasonal and Competitive Creative Lead, Motive, Battlefield Studios, who assured fans that their feedback about the game is being heard and that the team was pleased with how things shook out in Season 3.

“I hope the roadmap shows that we are listening, that we are working towards those goals that the community is setting for us, but at the same time we’re moving responsively because Battlefield is huge,” he told us.

“…our goal was to reach out to our fans, was to reach out to our current players, show them that we care, show them that the future is bright, that we are going to be applying a lot of changes, that we’re going to be doing a lot of things, that is what the community wants and we’re very happy with that.”

This news follows EA’s 2025 aquisition to a private investor group in a record-breaking $55 billion deal, made up of Saudia Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, who now have a 100% ownership of the company.
