Years after its cancellation, gameplay footage for Star Wars: Magellan, the action RPG developed by the now-shuttered Echtra Games, has appeared online.

Uploaded by a former developer on the project, per MP1st, the footage shows various characters including a Jedi and Mandalorian fighting their way through hordes of enemies. The game looked to be a loot-centric experience, with these enemies dropping gear and equipment of various rarities.

Each character appears to have a dedicated set of skills, as well as a small selection of available weapons to play around with. MP1st also claims the game would also feature an “NPC Bond” system, allowing players to form deeper relationships with certain characters involved in the story.

Star Wars: Magellan was intended to release for PC and modern consoles including PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its developer – Echtra Games – was acquired by Zynga in 2021 and development of a then unnamed action RPG began that same year. However, little-to-no information about the game came out in years following.

Then, in June 2025, Zynga closed down Echtra Games. In a statement offered to press, a Zynga spokesperson said: “Zynga has made the difficult decision to cease operations at its Echtra studio, ending development on future titles and reducing roles. This decision is part of a strategic realignment of the company’s resources and priorities. We will work closely with impacted employees so they are treated with the utmost respect and consideration as we navigate this difficult process.”

It’s a bittersweet moment, seeing what the developers at Echtra were working on in this unfinished capacity. The team at Echtra had previously released Torchlight 3, by no means a perfect game on launch but one that had some real heart behind it nonetheless.
