German mega-show Gamescom officially gets under way this evening with the Opening Night Live showcase hosted by Geoff “bright trainers” Keighley. And we’ll be covering all of the news and announcements live, right here, in this article.
The main show begins at 7pm BST (8pm CEST / 2pm EDT / 11am PDT), with a pre-show starting half-an-hour earlier. It’s expected to end by 9pm BST so the main show runs for roughly two hours.
What to expect? The big one for me is a first proper look at The Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past, because we barely know anything about it yet. We know it’s featuring in Opening Night Live and this glimpse should clarify what the setting is and what new features we can expect.
Elsewhere, I’m excited to see footage of Dungeons & Dragons third-person action game Warlock, because we’ve only seen a CGI teaser until now, and we know we’re going to get a look at the third and final Final Fantasy 7 remake instalment Revelation. Might we also see something more of the new Alien: Isolation 2 game? And I wonder if ArenaNet might show us Guild Wars 3. And could Blizzard announce Diablo 4 on Switch 2?
Besides reveals, we’re expecting a flurry of release dates. We still don’t have a date for The Duskbloods, which is still set to be out this year, nor the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, though it’d be a surprise to see a big Nintendo announcement like that here. Much to hope for but what will we get?
