Sony has revealed the games coming to PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra in September and there’s some decent stuff, although it lacks a glitzy headliner like, say, Big Walk last month.

  • RuneScape: Dragonwilds – 15th September (PS5)

  • Ball x Pit (PS5) – 22nd September
  • Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound – 29th September (PS4, PS5)
  • Dungeons of Hinterberg – 29th September (PS4, PS5)
  • Sniper Elite: Resistance – 29th September (PS4, PS5)

The highlight in September, as with Xbox Game Pass this month, is the arrival of third-person RuneScape co-op survival game Dragonwilds. I think it looks good and it has a solid reputation on Steam, where it’s been in early access for a year or so. Dragonwilds arrives next week, on Tuesday 15th September.

Besides Dragonwilds, it’s mostly slightly older games from a year or two ago arriving on PS Plus, though there are some bangers among them. There’s Ball x Pit, which is a fiendishly compelling roguelike take on Breakout – I lost hours to it, quite happily. There’s the raunchy and often hilarious dating game Date Everything, where you chat up personified furniture around your house, and there’s the bizarre but well-reviewed action horror game Slitterhead from a couple of years ago.

There’s the imaginative anime modern world fantasy RPG Dungeons of Hinterberg, which also reviewed well a couple of years back; there’s Sniper Elite Resistance, which again reviewed well relatively recently; and there’s the widely acclaimed retro-styled, side-scroller Ninja Gaiden Ragebound from last year, which we didn’t review but I’ve heard great things about. And, of course, if you’re a fan of things Metro or Mega Man, this month’s Premium offerings are for you.

Has anything taken your fancy from this month’s batch? For more on the service, be sure to check out our guide to PS Plus and all the available games.
