June’s PlayStation State of Play breaks records, is reportedly the most-watched ever

Sony has successfully made its State of Play showcase series into a brand that brings in millions of views with each episode. The most recent showcase, which took place 2nd June ahead of Summer Game Fest 2026, was apparently its biggest-ever, no matter which way you measure it.

That’s according to data from Streams Charts, who revealed in a new report that the June 2026 State of Play is the most-watched in the series, with over 3m live viewers at its peak.

The figure represents viewership across different platforms, as well as different individual channels. It also takes into account co-streaming, and in that area, the June State of Play has set a new record, too. Steam Charts says the number of co-streams from creators reached a new high, with many more creators opting to watch along than any previous showcase.

In terms of raw numbers, the June State of Play accumulated 4,414.895 hours watched, with over 2.4m average viewers, and 4,740 unique channels co-streaming. Interestingly, YouTube remains State of Play’s largest platform. YouTube is responsible for generating double the watch time as Twitch. Kick was also in the picture, itself posting double the audience numbers compared to the June 2025 State of Play.

Unsurprisingly, the main PlayStation YouTube channel is where much of that audience flocked to, helping the main stream become the most popular individual broadcast on the platform, peaking at 848,700 viewers – also a new record for a live show on the PlayStation channel.

According to the same report, State of Play showcases have collectively generated over 4.4m hours watched. The 2026 State of Play showcases have also seen a 25.5 percent rise in viewership compared to last year.

Sentiments are very positive on the June State of Play, in particular how it was almost entirely made up of single-player games. Even if so many of the games are set to release close to each other in September-early-October to avoid GTA 6.
