Monster Hunter Ascendance is to Wilds what Iceborne was to Monster Hunter World, coming 2027

Monster Hunter Ascendance gets a new gameplay trailer, showing new elder dragons, a floating island region, and a major glow up for a certain character

A new gameplay trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was just shown at the Sony State of Play, showing off a variety of new features coming with the expansion next year.

The trailer, which kicks off showing an elder dragon crashing through a big building. While this sounds bad, it seems to have cleared out mists from the surrounding area, allowing players to venture out into a new part of the world to hunt in.

Nata, one of the major characters from the base game, appears with a major glow up after having grown up a bit since the events of the base game. He’ll travel with the player to some newly discovered floating islands introduced with the expansion.

We see some new monsters too, including flying birds that dive down at the player, oily creatures that erupt from the bodies of dead monsters, and a few fan-favourite elder dragons from past games making a grand return. There’s also new skills for various weapons on display, all of which look dead handy.

The trailer ends with a teaser introducing a new dragon, one that looks to use storms to attack enemies. What their deal is, and how they’ll play into the wider story, will have to be discovered when Ascension comes out next year.

This trailer comes just after Capcom quietly released an early look at the changes coming to the 14 different weapons, which are must-watches for keen Monster Hunter fans.
