NASCAR 26 Release Date Confirmed, Features Dynamic Track Surfaces, AI DNFs

iRacing has confirmed the release date for its second stab at a standalone NASCAR game, following on from last year’s robust NASCAR 25. NASCAR 26 will be officially launched on September 18, 2026 (albeit following a three-day early access period for purchasers of the game’s higher-priced ‘Gold Edition’).

A new developer diary published today, featuring producer Matt Lewis and creative director Mike DeVault, discussed a number of additions and improvements to this year’s game.

NASCAR 26 will feature dynamic track surfaces, which will rubber in as race weekends progress. This evolution will open up new strategies as new racing lines become available.

The team has also addressed some bugbears present in NASCAR 25 around road course track limits, as well as the fact that opponents would never retire – even following major incidents. The development team has loosened some of the track restrictions to cut down on unrealistic penalties, and NASCAR 26 will feature AI DNFs.

“These quality of life improvements, right?” said Lewis. “Which are minor asks in the grand scheme of things, but just again showing that we’re listening to the community.”

NASCAR 26 will also feature the 10-round Chase, which will be available as a completely standalone mode.

“You go in, you set up the field that you want to compete against and you just run those last 10 races,” explained Lewis. “So that’s going to be an awesome feature as well.”

New gameplay footage of NASCAR 26 is expected to be published next week.
