Back in June, we learned that we’re officially getting a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which is supposedly coming to Switch 2 later this year (and we first heard rumours about it back in March). But, as we approach the latter quarter of the year, we still don’t know much about this remake, what it looks like, how it plays, or… well, anything really.
Enter next week’s Nintendo Direct. Nintendo has announced it will livestream a special, dedicated The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct next week, wihch will be followed by a second, more general Nintendo Direct.
The Zelda presentation will take place on September 8 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST and last about 30 minutes. As its name suggests, the Zelda Direct will share information about how Nintendo plans to commemorate the Zelda series’ 40th anniversary. Will we finally see a trailer for the Legend of Zelda movie?

We will certainly get more news on Ocarina here, but I’d also expect to see some other tidbits from Zelda as Nintendo pulls back the curtain on what to expect for the big anniversary celebration.
The next day, 9th September, a general Nintendo Direct will take place on at 3pm BST, 7am PT and 10am ET. This one is going to take 45 minutes, and will be specifically aimed at Nintendo Switch 2 games coming this winter. There’ll be a Nintendo Treehouse: Live session afterwards that last nearly two hours (110 minutes).
Two full Direct streams in one week, and then nearly two hours of Treehouse? Yes, that is unprecedented – this is the first time Nintendo has ever run this much new info back-to-back.
