The Album Announced by Rockstar

Rockstar will launch a $125 physical edition of the Grand Theft Auto 6 soundtrack, available on limited edition vinyl.

The news was broken this afternoon by the ever-reliable billbil-kun at Dealabs, while Rockstar announced the soundtrack itself a few minutes later. The collection of music will be published by Rockstar Games and Atlantic Records on November 19 — the same day as GTA 6 hits digital game stores.

A double LP vinyl edition will be sold for $50, while a double CD version will sell for $20. For collectors, though, there’s the limited edition vinyl set which contains “two transparent magenta discs filled with blue liquid,” plus exclusive artwork. This is the one you’ll pay $125 for. All editions are available for preorder now.

This news is somewhat ironic, considering the fact that GTA 6 itself will not get a physical launch on a disc, something that has sparked complaints from fans who want to own an actual copy of the upcoming blockbuster rather than an empty box.

Today’s announcement follows a spate of teases by music streaming service Spotify both online and across billboards in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. The teases continued online via the social media accounts of an array of artists, including Travis Scott and Keith Richards, that suggested they were also involved somehow with GTA 6. Now, we know why.

Travis Scott and Keith Richards are among the first batch of artists confirmed to have contributed music to the new album, with more tracks to be announced. Spotify will be one of the many places to stream the soundtrack online, meanwhile.

Indeed, Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album is now available for pre-save via major streaming services, where you can also listen to the first six tracks.

Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album Track Listing

  • Yung Lean – That’s It (feat. Future & Metro Boomin)
  • Travis Scott – RHYNO (prod. by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo)
  • CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.., & Etienne de Crécy – Sexy Magic
  • Morgan Wallen – Last Thing You Need
  • Rauw Alejandro – Macacoa 2000
  • Keith Richards – Bright Lights, Big City
  • and 28 more tracks to be announced

Speaking last month, Strauss Zelnick, boss of Rockstar parent company Take-Two, defended the company’s decision not to release GTA 6 on a physical disc, insisting that discs “don’t really make sense for the consumer.”
