A new hand-animated Cuphead game is in development from Studio MDHR. The news was shared with a short segment during this evening’s Summer Game Fest showcase. This upcoming game will take Cuphead’s characters on a “fresh, exciting adventure”.
We may have to wait a little while for this one to materialise though, as the studio has said its “ambitious project” is still in its earliest stages of development.
In addition to this upcoming Cuphead release, a small team within MDHR is also working on another project, known as Mighty Cuphead Adventure. This one is an 8-bit action platformer, and is built using technology from the 80s.
“That’s right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in classic Assembly Language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind,” the developer said. “While the game will absolutely be compatible with modern consoles and PC, players who want a true blast from the past will be able to experience it on a physical cartridge on the Sega Master System home gaming console.”
That is about all we know for now, but the Cuphead has promised more details in the coming months, so stay tuned.
Elsewhere this evening, we got confirmation that the rumoured remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica is indeed real, and it is coming in 2027.
