Hideo Kojima confirms Bill Skarsgård is Physint’s lead actor, gives production update on mysterious horror game OD

Hideo Kojima took to the stage at Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast today to give us an update on his two in-development games with Xbox, OD and Physint. Both games are now being published by Xbox, after we learned last week that Sony “stepped away” from Kojima Production’s previously PlayStation-exclusive “action espionage” game Physint. Following the announcement, which saw Xbox take over publishing duties for the in-development title, a new report has claimed Sony’s decision was the result of concerns over “budget, potential profitability and exclusivity”.

Today is the first time we’ve seen Kojima open up about the news since the first statements announcing the split were published. “Today, I’d like to focus on [Kojima Productions’] partnership with Xbox and share with players around the world a glimpse of what’s ahead,” he noted during the presentation (below), before sharing that he spent time in Richmond, California earlier this year, spending time with Xbox boss, Asha Sharma. “There, we discussed the future of games and digital entertainment and shared a deep understanding of the goals we believe we should achieve together,” Kojima explained.

First, he focused on OD-Knock, the mysterious horror game Kojima insists will be quite unlike anything we have seen before and that plenty of people will hate. He notes that development is progressing smoothly, despite performance capture and ADR recording having to be paused due to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike. “Produciton is proceeding on schedule,” he confirms, before noting that Sophiua Lillis, Hunter Schafer and the team have “delivered intense and outstanding performances” which he cannot wait for us all to see. OD, he reiterates, is a new type of game that will “test the thresholds of fear”. More information will be shared “down the line”.

Next up, Physint. The big news here is a new collaboration with Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård, who will play the lead role in the game. He will join previously confirmed actors such as Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. Kojima then shared new key art for the game, featuring a look at the costume and character Fraser and Skarsgård will play, apparently taken from a picture shot by Kojima himself at a recent photoshoot. The game is still many years from completion, but Kojima promises more news soon.
